RAIL operator 'one' today released an apology to passengers after over-running work at London Liverpool Street led to cancellations and delays.

The company has released details of the “modified service” which it is running today.

A statement posted on its website read: “We are sorry for the severe disruption that has affected all routes into London Liverpool Street this morning.

“This has been caused by an over run of the engineering work that took place at Liverpool Street over the Christmas and New Year period.

“Although the bridge demolition outside Liverpool Street, the station work at Stratford and the track work at Shenfield were all completed on time there have been serious problems with the overhead line replacement at Liverpool Street station.

“Until very late last night we were informed that the work was running on time and that we would be able to run a full service this morning. As a result we were unable to provide advanced warning of the disruption.

“Engineers are continuing to work at Liverpool Street. We are currently expecting to be able to run a reduced service into Liverpool Street later this afternoon. A full service is not expected from Liverpool Street until tomorrow afternoon (Thursday).

A modified service is currently in operation as follows:

Norwich - London services

An hourly service departing on the hour from Norwich, calling Diss, Stowmarket, Ipswich, Manningtree, Colchester, Chelmsford, Shenfield & Stratford

An hourly service departing at 8 minutes past the hour from Stratford, calling Chelmsford, Colchester, Manningtree, Ipswich. Stowmarket, Diss & Norwich

Harwich Services

A shuttle service will run between Harwich to Manningtree

West Anglia services

Will operate to a reduced timetable with Stansted Express & Hertford East services terminating / starting at Tottenham Hale.

Chingford services terminate at Hackney Downs.

Enfield Town & Cheshunt services terminate at Seven Sisters.

Cambridge line services will terminate / start at Hackney Downs and diverted via Seven Sisters.

Our advice to passengers is to avoid travelling if you can. 'one' railway tickets will be valid on equivalent c2c, London Underground and TfL bus routes.

Once again, our sincere apologies for the disruption to your journeys which is being caused by Network Rail's overrunning engineering works.
