EAST Anglia is set to be cut off from London for 24 hours at the end of the week.

Rail union the RMT has called a 24-hour strike of Network Rail signal staff from noon on Friday, meaning in East Anglia the only services operating will be an hourly shuttle between Norwich and Colchester on Friday afternoon and a shuttle service between Ipswich and Saxmundham. A Saturday service will be operated on Friday morning.

Talks were scheduled between the RMT later in the week in the hope of resolving the strike before Friday lunchtime.
