Twenty vehicle accidents were reported across Suffolk in under six hours yesterday and included one where a baby had to be air-lifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The accident happened at The Street, Bradfield Combust near the junction with the A1141 and the A134 at 4pm yesterday. Four people were in the car, including two adults and two children

A police spokesman said of the general conditions: "Drivers aren't leaving enough distance when they are following cars in front of them.

"People should be prepared after a long dry spell a wet surface can be slippery.

"They are not allowing themselves enough room to break properly and are obviously travelling too fast for the conditions."

Other accidents included six in Ipswich. At 9am a car was in collision with an Ipswich Bus on Norwich Road. No one was hurt.

An hour later a Ford Escort car and a Vauxhall Cavalier were involved in a shunt in Ranelagh Road, Ipswich.

The two people in the vehicle managed to escape unscathed. Earlier a van collided with a car in the town's Waveney Road.

An ambulance took at least one person to hospital following a three-car shunt in Foxhall Road at 2pm.
