TORRENTIAL rain brought Suffolk's summer crashing to an end today.Darkness hardly lifted until well into the day, and cars had to travel with headlights on through driving rain.

A police spokeswoman the weather caused several accidents.

At 10.27am in the High Street, Newmarket a lorry and car were in collision by the clocktower.

At 10.33am in East Street, Sudbury a car hit a bus, but nobody was injured. At 9.21am in Sparhawk Street, Bury St Edmunds, a car collided with a house and nobody was hurt.

A car had to be removed from the A14 at Bury at 9.04am, after it crashed.
