Rape allegation withdrawn

A 44-year-old man who told police he was raped in a toilet block has withdrawn the allegation.The man said he was raped in the toilets in South Street, Ipswich at about 6pm on August 14 but has since told police that the attack did not take place.

Officers are now working with appropriate organisations to ensure the man receives ongoing support and care.

Suffolk Police said they would like to remind people that 'stranger rape' is a rare crime and that anyone with any concerns can pick up leaflets on personal safety from local police stations.
