PHOTOGRAPHERS in Felixstowe really clicked with the public this summer – with more than 500 people attending their exhibition.

It was the first time for many years that the Felixstowe Photographic Society had held a display of its work and it was thrilled at the success of the event.

Visitors to the three-day event held at Trinity Methodist Church were asked to vote on the best print in the show and 185 cast votes.

Dennis Lumkin was the winner for his Red Arrows picture Flight of Fancy, with Ron Cullum second for Old and New, a photo of a helicopter and barge, and Sue Simmons third for her New Zealand sunset scene.

The club – which meets next at 7.30pm on Thursday at its new venue, the Senior Citizen's Day Centre, Orwell Road – recently presented Felixstowe Girl Guides with a cheque for £150 for their building for a new HQ.

The club's meetings next month will take place on October 10 when there will be a talk by John Yateman, of Colchester, on Tanzanian Safari, and October 24 when the highlights will be the results of the Bridges print and slide competition, and a presentation by club president Stephen Cook on Back to Basics Part 3.

New members are always welcome. Further details from general secretary Dennis Lumkin on 01394 285249 or e-mail dglumkin@talk21.com
