A call out is being made for the Northgate Grammar School for Girls class of 1965 to come together for a reunion.

The event will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the pupils leaving the Ipswich school and will be held on Saturday, November 14.

Anyone who attended Northgate Grammar School for Girls Ipswich between the years 1960 and 1965 and took their ‘O-levels’ in 1965 is invited to mark the occasion, as well as those who stayed on in the sixth form.

Former pupil Marian Hunt, 66, said they had a similar event to commemorate 25 years since their graduation, which was attended by around 70 people.

“Northgate as a grammar school was good, high standards in everything but rather Victorian in outlook,” Ms Hunt added.

“The discipline was good and by and large it had a happy atmosphere. It certainly taught us good values.”

The school is now named Northgate High School but was previously comprised of two schools: Northgate Grammar School for Boys and Northgate Grammar School for Girls. Earlier, it was Ipswich Municipal Secondary School.
