A DRIVER has died and another is in hospital with serious injuries following two collisions on the A1.
The first crash happened near Wittering in the early hours of this morning when a large goods vehicle collided with a van, killing the van driver.
Shortly afterwards another collision happened in the resulting tailback between two tankers. The driver of one of the tankers was taken to hospital with serious and potentially life threatening injuries.
The crashes closed the northbound carriageway of the road and diversions were set up while recovery of the vehicles took place. The southbound carriageway remained open.
