MOTORISTS are warned to avoid the Marks Tey area this morning after two lorries collided near the junction off the A12.
The lorries collided on the roundabout of the A12/A120 at about 5am today, which has caused some sections of the road to close.
Essex Police said the westbound carriageway of the A120 is closed. Those travelling on the A12 southbound carriageway cannot exit at junction 25 although the A120 eastbound from Braintree to Marks Tey is still open.
The closures are likely to be in place until this afternoon while debris from the road is removed and the recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.
Three fire crews from Colchester and one from Dovercourt attended the scene, as one of the lorries spilt white powder onto the road.
A chemical officer was in attendance. The white powder is believed to be a component of perfume.
