MOTORISTS using the roads in and around Felixstowe are being warned that they will face delays and diversions this month.

Suffolk County Council has employed contractors to carry out resurfacing work in two of the busiest areas of the resort.

Because they are two of the most used sections of road in the town, the time has come to repair the surfacing, which has been worn away by the traffic.

Work on the A154 Trinity Avenue between Cavendish Park and Port of Felixstowe Dock Gate 2 is due to start on Monday .

This is the route not only for much of the commuter traffic to the port, but also for thousands of lorries daily visiting Trinity Terminal.

Each carriageway will be closed for approximately three days while the work is carried out. Signed diversion routes via the A14 and A154 Walton Avenue will be in place.

The next week – schedule to start on Monday March 25 – resurfacing work will be done on High Road West between the Garrison Lane traffic lights and the Orwell Roundabout at the top of Hamilton Road.

The work is expected to take two days. The road – used by parents taking children to school at Fairfield Infants, visiting the petrol station and town centre – will remain open but under traffic light control.
