Robber steals hundreds of pounds in hold-up at Dales Road Post Office, Ipswich
The post office in Dales Road, Ipswich
A man held up an Ipswich post office this morning demanding cash from a female attendant.
Police officers were contacted just before 9.15am to reports a man had approached the counter of the Dales Road Post Office, thrown a bag down and demanded that it was filled with cash.
No weapons were seen but it is possible the man may have held something inside his jacket.
A police spokeswoman said: “It’s thought there was one female customer in the post office, along with the female member of staff behind the counter, at the time.
“No one was hurt but a quantity of cash has been stolen. It’s possible he may have left the scene on a motorcycle.”
She added it was believed that “hundreds of pounds” were stolen in the robbery.
The man involved is described as white, aged in his 20s to early 30s, around 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build. He had scruffy hair and was wearing a dark coloured hooded jacket and dark woolly hat.
