DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a robbery in Suffolk.

Raiders struck at Pennys off-licence in Norwich Road, Lowestoft, on Saturday evening.

Two people wearing masks - both believed to be male - entered the store at around 7.35pm, approached the man behind the counter and demanded he hand over cash.

One of the robbers appeared to be carrying a hammer.

As the till was opened one of the two grabbed notes and the other man took a box for staff tips from the counter before they both fled.

No one was hurt in the incident.

One of the offenders was of large build, in his late teens to early 20s, wearing an orange and red hooded top and dark bottoms that seemed short.

The other appeared younger and wore a dark sports jacket with a white motif on a front pocket, grey sports bottoms and white trainers.

Both wore toweling-style cloth masks over their faces, with holes cut in.

Anyone with information on the robbery should call Lowestoft CID on 01986 835300.
