Rod Stewart’s summer gig at Portman Road next year will be his third trip to the home of Ipswich Town and here we look back at pictures from the 1991 and 2007 concerts.
The star is set to return to the stage at Portman Road on Friday, June 7 as part of a national stadium tour, his first on three years.
The 73-year-old played his first gig at Portman Road in June 1991 with his Vagabond global tour. The tour stretched a year from March 1991 to March 1992, and Rod and his band appeared up and down the UK, throughout Europe and across the USA and Australia. The concert had a setlist which included the hits Maggie May, Baby Jane and Tonight I’m yours,
The rock icon returned to the home of the Blues in July 2007 with songs from his album ‘Still The Same…Great Rock Classics Of Our Time.’ The concert proved to be a wet one for many, but it failed to dampen the spirits of Stewart’s fans who witnessed electric performances of the hits Stand By You, Talk of The Town and Day after Day. On the upcoming tour fans can expect more classic hits from Rod, and will this time be hoping the sun shines down on Portman Road for the show.
