THERE is still time for last-minute entries for the great Evening Star-Kingpin bowling night – but you need to get your names down sharpish.

Organisers are pinning their hopes on the event being a fabulous fundraising evening, but also expect it to be a fun time for all taking part.

Ben Collins, of the Evening Star brand team, said: "We have had an excellent response and are really pleased, but there are still one or two places left for teams and it would be wonderful to have a full house.

"Time is running out though and we would need to hear from people very quickly to get the details sorted out.

"It should be a lot of fun and everyone is really looking forward to it."

The evening of ten-pin bowling is raising money for the appeal to build a memorial to murdered schoolgirl Vicky Hall.

Among those taking part are Maersk Logistics, of Orwell House, Ferry Lane, Felixstowe, which is sending five teams to take part, and other companies from the shipping industry around the port.

The event at 6.30pm on Thursday at the Kingpin Bowling Centre at Martlesham Heath is open to teams of friends or neighbours, clubs and societies, or work colleagues.

The event is being organised by the Evening Star and Kingpin, whose owner Geoff Sheldrake came up with the idea and is giving his complex for free.

Each teams pays £20 to enter and teams can be made up of four to six bowlers. They then seek sponsored individually from friends and relatives – either per pin, per strike or simply a donation.

People interested in forming a team should ring Ben Collins on 01473 282298 or Katie Chittock on 01473 282336.

The Vicky Hall Memorial Trust is aiming to build a sports pavilion as a memorial to sixth form student Vicky, who was abducted and murdered as she walked home from a night out in Felixstowe.

The trust plans to build the pavilion for children in Vicky's home village of Trimley St Mary and it will be used by young footballers and for small community events.

n People can support the appeal by sending donations. Cheques should be made payable to the Vicky Hall Memorial Fund and sent to Geraldine Thompson, editor's secretary, Evening Star, Press House, 30 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP4 1AN.

If you are holding a fundraising event or sponsored activities for the appeal, let us know – and we will help you in any way we can. Please contact Richard Cornwell, Felixstowe Newsdesk on 01394 284109.
