An Ipswich woman’s bedroom looked like a scene from a horror movie after a violent attack by her boyfriend who claimed that “something demonic and evil” had come over him”, it has been alleged.

Elizabeth Turner had several of her teeth knocked out and suffered fractures to both sides of her jaw, a fracture to her left hand and a suspected fracture to her right hand in the alleged assault at her home in Lindbergh Road, Ipswich in the early hours of Christmas Eve, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Nicola May, prosecuting, said that following the alleged attack Ms Turner’s bedroom looked like a scene from “a horror movie” with a pool of blood on her bed and blood spatters on the walls.

The court heard that Ms Turner’s daughter found around eight of her mother’s teeth in the bedroom.

Donaldson, 41, of Clarkson Street, Ipswich, has denied wounding Ms Turner with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm on December 24 and an offence of common assault earlier in the same month.

The jury has been told that Donaldson had a history of violence with a number of convictions between 1991-2014, including assaults on men, women and police officers.

Miss May said that when police officers arrested Donaldson he said: “I was going to hand myself in about what I did to her.”

Donaldson admitted to officers that he had hit Ms Turner and kneed her, resulting in cuts to his hand and bruising to his knee.

Miss May said Donaldson accepted assaulting Ms Turner but denied wounding her with intent and claimed that “something demonic and evil came over him” on the night in question.

The trial continues today.
