Pupils from an Ipswich school are going to Buckingham Palace next month after being named finalists in a national enterprise competition.

Year 12 pupils from the Royal Hospital School have been taking part in the Tycoon in Schools competition which is spearheaded by Dragon’s Den star Peter Jones.

Students set up their own clothing and accessories brand, SOLO, with a £756 loan from the Peter Jones Foundation for Enterprise and made a profit of £1,238.38.

They beat off competition from around 400 schools to reach the final.

Nicholas Sim, Managing Director of SOLO said: “Our products were very popular across the year groups and we ended up ordering more stock than we predicted.”

Peter Jones said: “I‘ve been blown away by the ambitious and inventive businesses that have been started as part of this year’s Tycoon competition.”

The students will find out if they have won on March 1.
