The RSPCA is searching for the owner of a cat that died in Ipswich after suffering serious injuries.

The charity was called to Gippeswyk Road on Sunday, April 23, after receiving reports of a tabby cat missing a leg. A RSPCA responder rushed the cat to a nearby veterinary practice, but it could not be saved and had to be put to sleep

A spokesman said: “While we can’t be sure how this poor cat was injured, we believe he may have been hit by a train.

“Our officer collected the tabby and rushed him to a nearby vet where he received emergency treatment. Sadly, he rapidly deteriorated and the vet made the difficult decision to put him to sleep on welfare grounds.

“Unfortunately, the cat wasn’t microchipped and didn’t have an ID tag on so we’ve no way of informing his owner.

“We have posted his details on Pets Located, ref IP0085388, and would urge anyone who thinks he may be their cat to call 0300 123 8018.”
