THREE rural bus services have been saved after new operators stepped in to take over the routes, it has emerged.

Bus operator First announced in November it was to axe the 95 service between Ipswich and Capel St Mary, the 96 between Ipswich and Cattawade and the 97 between Ipswich and Shotley from December 31.

But Suffolk County Council has been working with other operators in a bid to save the services and announced last night three companies had agreed to replace them.

The 95 service will now be run on an hourly basis serving Copdock and Washbrook, with additional peak journeys from Brantham and East Bergholt.

Service 96 will continue to operate from Tattingstone to Bentley and to and from Ipswich but also offers new journey options to Manningtree and Mistley.

Service 97B, which covers Ipswich to Shotley, will be operated throughout the day.

Services 92, 93 and 94 have also been reviewed and anyone wanting more information should visit: www.suffolk.gov.uk/TransportAndStreets/PublicTransport/
