A two-vehicle collision on the A14 earlier this afternoon caused residual delays at the start of the evening rush hour.

A white box van and a Volkswagen Beetle were involved in a collision on the A14 eastbound between junction 51 (A140 turn-off) and junction 52 (Claydon) shortly before 3.20pm.

The collision caused minor damage to the central reservation and blocked both lanes for around 50 minutes before it was reopened by police at around 4pm, a force spokesman at Suffolk Constabulary said.

An ambulance was called but the motorists did not sustain any serious injuries and swapped details before arranging recovery for their vehicles, police said.

Reports at the scene earlier indicated traffic was still being affected by the road closure at the start of the evening rush hour.

Police said that initial reports indicated that a lorry was involved in the crash, but officers at the scene confirmed a white box van and a Volkswagen Beetle were the two vehicles involved.
