Traffic crawled towards Ipswich during this morning's rush hour as most people's journeys took half an hour longer than usual.
Only the brave used the outside lane of the A12 as cars stayed sensibly in single file and well apart.
Foxhall Road was particularly dicey as motorists queued for their turn to negotiate the steep incline near the speedway stadium, and the odd helpful driver could be spotted leaving their vehicle to assist those forced to halt their route to work.
