Revellers young and old across Ipswich have been continuing the Queen’s 90th celebrations long after her official birthday.
Rushmere Hall Primary School and the over 60s Friendship Club at the Ipswich Salvation Army branch both held parties for Her Majesty’s milestone year last week.
Pupils from Nursery to Year 6 at Rushmere swapped their uniform for red, white and blue clothes, and invited their grandparents to join them at school in the afternoon for a garden party and birthday tea.
Mayor of Ipswich, councillor Roger Fern, officially open the event, which took place on the school’s field.
Visitors enjoyed music and games as well as party food.
Meanwhile, more than 50 people came together at the Salvation Army venue in Woodbridge Road and enjoyed a tea party. Members were presented with information about the Queen’s 90 years before taking part in some royal games.
Dave Snowling, head of the over 60s group, said: “Everyone had a great time, they didn’t want to go home!”
