MORE than 200 people filled a Stowmarket church to say a final farewell to Daniel Williams, who died in a tragic accident on holiday.

The music included some of the 27-year-old's favourite songs, such as the Elton John hit Candle In the Wind and Robbie Williams' classic Angels.

The service was led by the Reverend Christine Everett, cousin to Mr Williams mum Linda, of Battisford, who was supported by Gerry Williams, Daniel's father.

Underlining the healing offered by faith, she told mourners: "You have lost someone you loved, someone who had so much to look forward to in life."

Mr Williams died in the early hours of September 30 after falling off a hotel balcony in the Cyprus resort of Ayia Napa when a prank went horribly wrong.

Three of his many friends gave moving tributes to the fun-loving former student at Luton University.

Matt Elliott, one his oldest friends, said: "Friends come and go in your life, but only true friends leave footprints on your heart. Dan will always be my best friend."

Craig Dooston, a fellow player at Needham FC, said there will always be another player on the field with them while student pal Gavin Johnson lifted heavy spirits with memories of Daniel's energetic love of life – which spread even to karaoke singing.
