KEN Bloom, of Holyrood Close, Ipswich, sent me this photograph of his great-grandfather's saddlers shop in Silent Street, Ipswich.

Robert Bloom ran the business, Robert Bloom and Sons, saddle and harness makers, with his sons Robert and James, they are all together outside the shop in a photograph thought to have been taken in the late 1890s. Robert senior was from a long line of Master Saddlers.

After his death James inherited the business which he ran from Silent Street, then Dogs Head Street and finally in Foxhall Road. Do you have memories of Bloom's the saddlers who were trading until 1950 at 47 Foxhall Road, Ipswich? Write to Kindred Spirits at the Evening Star or e-mail info@kindred-spirit.co.uk
