SANTA was busy enchanting children in Ipswich when he took residence of two grottos in the town centre.

With his reindeer not quite ready for Christmas, he paraded round in some flash vehicles on Saturday.

He was first seen travelling in a 4x4 to the Co-op in Carr Street, where he had photos taken with the kids and opened his grotto in the store.

Then he was spotted hopping into a limousine with a harem of elves and joined a procession from Major's Corner to Debenhams with a group of cheerleaders from Ipswich Town.

Santa also took up residence at his grotto in Debenhams. Entry to see him costs £3 - £1 of which goes to the NSPCC. Entry to the Co-op grotto is £2.50.

Donna Dedona, a supervisor at Debenhams, said: “It was fantastic. There were lots of people and the children were helping Santa hand out sweets to the crowd.”

Santa will be at both grottos every day until Christmas Eve.
