NAUTICAL enthusiasts were today invited to tour a world-famous tall ship following its arrival at Ipswich docks.

The Prince William sailed into the town yesterday.

The 200ft square-rigged Brigg, owned by the Tall Ships Youth Trust, is being sold at the end of the year so the charity can invest in four new yachts.

John Venes, watch leader, said: “She is a most prestigious tall ship and will dominate the docks at Ipswich. I have sailed on her numerous times and have many happy memories onboard. It will be a sad day when we leave Ipswich for the last time, ahead of the final leg to Portsmouth.

“Families, people interested in sailing, scout and guide groups, even companies have stayed onboard Prince William over the years. We are looking forward to giving her a great send off.”

The ship will be sailing out of Ipswich tomorrow.
