Changes are being made to school admissions procedures from the academic year 2018/19 – and Suffolk County Council has launched a consultation programme to get the message across to families.

The main changes are to admissions to Church of England primary schools and to dates for applications for school places.

A consultation document about the changes is available from the council’s website: www.suffolk.gov.uk

Gordon Jones, Suffolk County Council’s Cabinet Member for education said: “I would encourage parents and carers to take a look at the proposed admissions procedures and tell us what they think.

“This is particularly important if they have children approaching school age and want to learn more about the admissions process and policy within Suffolk.

“While we are only proposing some minor changes to our policy for 2018/2019, school admissions is rightly a very important subject so we must listen to what our residents, parents and schools are telling us about the process.”
