A VILLAGE school is desperately appealing for help with its summer fete after the planned entertainment was cancelled at the last minute.

Bucklesham Primary School had hoped that visitors to their fete this Saturday would be able to take part in fitness demonstrations being held by the Next Generation fitness club, but staff shortages have meant that the gym is now unable to take part.

Helen Griffins, a member of the school's Parent Teacher Association, said: “We've got two days to go and it looks like we are going to have nothing to entertain people in the grand ring.

“It means we're left with four hours with nothing going on.

“They were supposed to be doing fitness routines, aerobics and that kind of thing for people to join in with.

“We desperately need anyone who can spare some of their time to come along and help. It doesn't have to be a gym it could be majorettes or a band - anything that people will enjoy watching.”

Anyone who would like to help must be prepared to provide their services free of charge.

All of the other stalls and entertainment that were planned will continue regardless. This includes bouncy castles, a barbecue and a balloon race.

Mrs Griffins said: “We are raising money for a new playground for the school.

“At the moment it is quite bare but we have got some quotes in for a re-design and all the money raised by the fete will go towards this.”

Next Generation were unavailable for comment but Mrs Griffins said they have provided her with some branded goods to give away at the event and were hoping to organise a rowing machine for a competition.

If you can help contact Mrs Griffins on 07880 943089.

The fete will take place from 11am to 3pm.
