A YOUNG boy has died after collapsing at school.
The 12-year-old pupil was taken ill at William de Ferrers School in Chelmsford, Essex, yesterday morning.
An Essex police spokesman said the ambulance service attended the scene and took the child to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In a letter to parents head teacher Russell Ayling said: "It is with great sadness that I am writing to you about the death of one of our students earlier today.
"I felt it important that you knew as soon as possible of this tragedy.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time."
Police said the death, which happened yesterday morning, was not being treated as suspicious.
