AN injured seal pup has been rescued off the beach at Walton on the Naze.
Thames Coastguard received a 999 call at 7.46am today reporting seeing the animal and a team was sent out to investigate.
The grey seal pup, described as being unusual for the area, was thought to have been abandoned by its mother and was emaciated.
The pup was taken to Leon Woodrow, the station officer for the Walton coastguard team who is also a trained marine mammal paramedic, and it was decided to take it to the animal sanctuary at East Winch, in Norfolk, by the RSPCA.
