POLICE are today continuing their search for three armed robbers who made off with £100,000 worth of board games after tying up a security guard.

Brandishing metal bars, the raiders dumped the 58-year-old guard behind the Stowmarket depot on the Tomo Industrial Estate before making off with 5,000 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?' games.

The guard was found an hour later after failing to respond to a check in call and, although shaken by the ordeal, was not physically injured.

The thieves stole a blue tractor unit before forcing their way into Bacton's Transport to steal the trailer.

Both the tractor and trailer have now been found abandoned in the West Midlands but the games have disappeared.

A spokesman for Ipswich based company Upstarts, who make the game said it is feared the games had been targeted deliberately as all the board games contained special gold tickets that were part of a promotional offer.

Both police and the company are now warning people against buying the games at car boot sales or in pubs.

The robbers were all white and wearing dark coloured jeans and balaclavas.

Two of the men were short and stocky at 5ft 4ins and 5ft 6ins tall while the third man was tall and slim at 5ft 11ins.

Det Con John Dolan said it is not yet clear whether the three were stealing to order and said that at this time of year seasonal loads such as toys and gifts were more likely to be targeted.

Anyone with information should contact Dc Dolan of Stowmarket Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
