The man, aged in his 30s and from the Ipswich area, was arrested in connection with the investigation today.

He is currently in police custody and assisting officers with their enquiries.

The man was arrested at a residential address in Ipswich at around 5.20pm today, Suffolk Constabulary confirmed to this newspaper.

The force is currently unable to provide further details about the arrest due to operational reasons.

The last confirmed sighting of 43-year-old Mr Moore, from Kesgrave, was in the Nacton Road area of Ipswich on February 6.

The incident remains a missing person investigation, a Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said.

A statement issued by the force tonight said: “Suffolk police have today (Sunday, February 25) arrested a man in connection with the investigation of missing person Paul Moore.

“The man, aged in his 30s and from the Ipswich area, is currently in police custody and assisting officers with their enquiries.

“The searches for Mr Moore are continuing and police continue to liaise with his family.”

There have been suggestions that Mr Moore may have been staying at hotels in the area, checking in under a different name.

Volunteers helped the Suffolk Lowland Search And Rescue team (SULSAR) look for signs of Mr Moore near his home over the weekend.

They searched parts of Kesgrave and Foxhall Woods.

About 15 people were out searching for Mr Moore and another three were co-ordinating their efforts back at a control room at Suffolk Constabulary’s headquarters in Martlesham.

Paul Wesley from SULSAR said that by chance the organisation was having an induction day for new volunteers at the police headquarters.

He said: “I think we often end up on a search like this during inductions. We have been called out on average once every 10 days so far this year.”

Today, there were about 30 volunteers out and they were supported by a police helicopter while searching land between Ipswich and Felixstowe.

Mr Moore, who is 6ft tall, of stocky build and with mousy hair, is also known to have links to Diss and Great Yarmouth. To help police, call 101.
