MORE than 100 firefighthers were today tackling another food factory fire in Bury St Edmunds – exactly a week after the last one.

Crews from across East Anglia were called to a blaze at Direct Table Foods Bacon Factory, in Lamdin Road, at 7am.

The building was evacuated at an early stage and no workers are believed to have been injured.

The fire comes a week after the town's Premier Foods pickle factory was devastated by fire.

The main fears for the firefighters was the structure of the building which was made of thin metal sheeting insulated with foam which looked as if it was buckling under the heat.
