FIREFIGHTERS were kept busy in Ipswich today after being called to four separate blazes in the early hours.

The fires, three of which engulfed cars, are all being treated as suspicious.

Crews were first called to Kelly Road at shortly before 1am where a wheelie bin fire was extinguished on arrival.

A couple of hours later, at just before 3am, firefighters were called to tackle a blaze involving a car in Darwin Road.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to control the flames by 3.06am.

At 4am a further car far was reported in Hawthorn Drive which crews managed to control by 4.13am.

Crews were also called to a third car fire in Philip Road at 4.05am where two water fogs were used to control the flames by 4.11am.

A spokesman for Suffolk fire service said each of the incidents is being treated as suspicious.
