A car and a motorcycle collided in Huntingdon Road, at the junction of Cambridge Road, at around 3.40pm.
Cambridge police said one person had died, and a man had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Heavy traffic built up around the area, as the road was closed until around 9pm.
