Emergency services including an East Anglian Air Ambulance crew rushed to the scene of a serious crash in Hadleigh last night.

Officers were called to Coram Street by the ambulance service at around 10.10pm to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision.

Police have said the crash involved one car, but it is not clear yet how many people were inside at the time of the crash.

The road was shut in both direction and drivers advised to avoid the area while officers carried out accident investigation work at the scene.

Highways officers arrived at the scene just after 11pm to put a diversion in place.

It is not yet clear if anyone has been hurt, or how seriously.

But the police spokesman described the crash as serious and said the force will be providing an update on the situation as soon as more details become clear.

The road was reopened for traffic at around 3.30am today.

Paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) and three fire engines from Hadleigh, Sudbury and Princes Street also attended the scene.

EEAST sent a rapid response vehicle, two ambulance crews, an ambulance officer and an East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Witnesses to the crash, drivers with dash cam footage and anyone with information should call Suffolk Constabulary on 101 quoting CAD number 497 of today, June 17.
