An air ambulance has touched down and police have closed the road after a car and a cyclist collided on the A12 at Woodbridge.

Police would like to speak to an adult male walking his dog who was on a pedestrian crossing near Hasketon Road this morning when a serious collision took place.

Police were called shortly before 9am with reports of a serious crash on the A12 southbound, near to the junction with Hasketon Road in Woodbridge.

Both land and air ambulance rushed to the scene where a man in his 70s was injured in a collision with a red Nissan Quashqai.

The 70-year-old man was on a pedal cycle and sustained head injuries.

Lane two remains closed heading southbound towards the Woodbridge roundabout, which joins the A12 with the B1079. Lane one has now been reopened by police.

Officers are warning of some traffic disruption in the area, with reports of delays around Woodbridge.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We received reports of an incident on Hasketon Road, Woodbridge.

“An ambulance, ambulance officer and the air ambulance attended.

“A male in his 70s was taken to Ipswich Hospital by road.”

Anyone with information or dash cam footage should contact the Roads Policing and Firearms Operations Unit (RPFOU) at Police Headquarters by calling 101 and quoting incident number 72 of 10th August 2018.
