THE 45-year-old widow of a man who died when a yacht capsized during a hospitality trip has reached an undisclosed out-of-court settlement with the organisers of the event.
THE 45-year-old widow of a man who died when a yacht capsized during a hospitality trip has reached an undisclosed out-of-court settlement with the organisers of the event.
Businessman Peter Curry, 44, died with his friend Alan Barwick during a pleasure trip on the Lone Signature yacht, captained by former Bury St Edmunds architect Colin Jessey, in 1998.
The yacht – which Mr Jessey moored at Levington, near Ipswich, on the River Orwell – had set sail from Newcastle's Quayside and continued into the open sea despite stormy weather conditions.
Builders' merchants Matthew Charlton, based in Hexham in Northumberland, arranged the trip as a corporate hospitality event.
Mr Jessey, who used to live in Steeple Bumpstead, near Haverhill, was cleared of manslaughter following two trials in 2000.
