SEVEN people were still being questioned by detectives today after masked gunmen robbed a post office and newsagent in early morning raids in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

A joint investigation was launched by both forces after raiders threatened staff at two shops – in West Row, near Mildenhall, and Cottenham, near Cambridge – with what is believed to have been a shotgun.

The robberies took place within an hour of each other at West Row Post Office and a newsagent in Cottenham, which are 20 miles apart, early yesterday morning.

Police later arrested seven people in connection with the incidents "and other crimes". They were being questioned at police stations in Cambridgeshire.

Anyone with any information should telephone Suffolk police on 01473 613500 or Cambridge Police on 01223 358966 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
