An 18-year-old Ipswich man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a teenage boy during a fight in the town.

The suspect is the seventh person to be detained in connection with the altercation in Moffat Avenue, Ipswich, on May 17.

A 16-year-old boy sustained what was first described as a stab wound, but which police are now calling a “puncture wound”.

He was taken to Ipswich Hospital where he was treated for his injuries, which were not life-changing or life-threatening.

Later the same afternoon, police arrested four boys and two girls, all aged between 15 and 17, on suspicion of affray in connection with the incident. They were all released while the investigation continues.

The latest suspect was arrested on Friday on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and affray. He has also now been released pending further enquiries.

A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said: “The weapon used in this attack has not yet been identified.”
