FIREFIGHTERS put out an acre and a half of flaming gorse in Thorpeness today.
The blaze broke out shortly after 7pm and required the efforts of fire crews from Leiston, Aldeburgh and Saxmundham.
A water tanker was also called in to help douse the flames, which were under control by 8.45pm.
It capped a busy night for the region's firefighters who earlier dealt with a small undergrowth fire in Cliff Plantation - a wooded area of Chelmondiston. A crew from Holbrook dealt with the fire in less than half an hour.
A car was later reported ablaze at 8pm in Bourne Park, Ipswich. Princes Street firefighters had extinguished it and made the area safe by 8.20pm.
More undergrowth went up in flames in Wallers Grove and Bramford Lane, Ipswich, between 8pm and 9pm. Again Princes Street crews attended and had the small fires under control in around 10 minutes.
