SERIAL sex offender Steven Beech was still lodging at a police station in Peterborough today – as speculation mounted that he could be planning to leave the country.

It is thought that he went to the Cambridgeshire city after leaving Ipswich last week because that is where the region's Passport Office is based.

But he is being kept in the city's police station and is not being allowed out, even with a police escort.

Officers have told him that if he does leave the station, he will be arrested for behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace.

Beech, 38, has 115 convictions – mainly for sexual attacks on women. He is considered one of Britain's most dangerous men – although at present he is technically a free man.

A court order means that he is not able to live in the same household as any woman – and at both Ipswich and Peterborough police stations he has been guarded exclusively by men.
