Double amputee Shaun Whiter said it felt “amazing” to have completed the 150-mile Tour of Suffolk.
Former Newmarket Town footballer Mr Whiter lost both his legs after being hit by a dangerous driver in July last year, but took part in the cycling event on a hand bike.
“It was great, probably one of the best events I’ve done,” he said at the end of the two-day event at Ipswich Town’s Portman Road stadium last night. “It was tough – enjoyable the first day but then wind, rain, hills and all the rest.”
He added it was “100%” something he would do again and was proud to have completed the challenge, along with around 100 other participants including former ITFC players Russell Osman, Titus Bramble and Alan Lee.
Mr Whiter was raising money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance to thank it for its work in saving his life. National charity Prostate Cancer UK and the Friends of Ipswich Town also benefitted from the fundraising tour.
