IPSWICH: It started as an idea by a passionate group of mums to help spread the word about real nappies.

But now the Suffolk Real Nappy Network stocks a wide range of environmentally friendly products for both adults and children.

The network's headquarters has been based since 2006 in Museum Street, where parents can get free and impartial advice about real nappies and use baby change and feeding facilities.

Although a non-profit organisation the network decided to branch out and double up as an eco store in a bid to stay open.

While nappies are still the main focus, other stock has been gradually introduced to encourage the use of products with organic ingredients.

Helen Smith, from the company, said: “The eco store also introduced a new range of toys just before Christmas which have proved a great success and kept within the store's ethos of being made from renewable sources and in a responsible way.

“This all means we're able to remain open to those wanting information about reusable nappies as well as providing clean and comfortable surrounding for parents to feed and change their babies, which is otherwise sorely lacking in Ipswich town centre.”

Toiletries now on sale at the shop in Museum Street include shampoos, deodorants, skincare and moisturisers, all for women, men and children.
