A man has been arrested for shoplifting following a dramatic chase across Ipswich town centre.
Police arrived shortly before 5pm in Lower Brook Street, where a man was being held down by an Ipswich Street Ranger and an employee of Peacock’s clothing store, in Carr Street.
The member of staff said he gave chase after a hooded top was stolen from the shop.
Witnesses described seeing a man hauled to the ground outside The Evening Star offices and restrained until police turned up.
A man was arrested at the scene and taken to Ipswich Police Station for questioning.
