CROWDS of excited shoppers caused a scene in Ipswich town centre today as they waited for a clothes shop to finally open its doors.

Retail giant H&M provided music and a countdown for its loyal fans queuing outside its new store on the corner of Tavern Street and Tower Street.

The first 200 in the line were given £5 off their first purchase.

Rosanna Iacobucci, 16, of Spring Road, Ipswich, queued up with her three friends.

She said: “We are die hard fans of H&M.

“We travel everywhere to go shopping in H&M and so we're so pleased it open here now.

“I'm so excited.”

And 32-year-old Nicola Turner, who was near the front of the queue which stretched back to the Corn Hill, said she had travelled all the way from Colchester for the opening.

She said: “I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

“I really like H&M and it's about time it came to Ipswich.”
