With headteachers dealing with rising numbers of children questioning their identity across the country reportedly, we are asking for your thoughts on gender-neutral uniforms and bathrooms at school.

The debate was triggered over the weekend after it emerged that a private school in London is considering introducing gender neutral uniforms which would allow boys to wear skirts. Highgate School is consulting on the mix-and-match design which would see an end to designated boys’ and girls’ uniforms.

The school’s headmaster, Adam Pettitt, told The Times that some boys may feel happier knowing that they would be allowed to wear skirts and feel more secure.

There are also national pushes for schools to introduce gender-neutral toilets.

Nationally, there is a reported rise in the number of children questioning their identity. Headteachers are now grappling with the best response to these issues.

The government has also urged schools to be more sensitive to “trans” children facing these issues.
