The mayor of Ipswich is calling on businesses, community groups and friends to come together and field a mixed touch rugby team for a fun tournament.
The inaugural Mayor of Ipswich’s Challenge Event will be a touch rugby tournament on Saturday, August 5 to be held at Whitton Sports Centre. The tournament is the first in a series of challenges to help get people involved in sport and physical activity, with more being lined up.
The non-contact form of the sport will feature teams of seven with participants aged 14 and above, featuring at least three of each sex taking part in a tournament of games, all bidding for the winner’s trophy.
A borough council spokesman said: “The mayor is playing and if you think you can beat her team get your friends or workmates together and register.”
