Ipswich band The Ballistics are today joining Ipswich Town fans calling for the song Edward Ebenezer Jeremiah Brown to make a comeback to Portman Road.

The punk/ska group have recorded the anthem onto CD and it goes on sale next month in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.

Malcolm Thompson, a season ticket holder who is behind the project, said: “A lot of Town fans are crying out for the old club anthem to be re-sung at the ground.

“There's been some discussion about it over the past weeks.

“We need to get the song well known again the young fans don't know it as it's such an old song.

“Here's to a successful number of sales - and the song being sung at Portman Road.”

Mr Thompson already has one charity challenge under way for the MS Society - running 40 miles to Town's ground from his hometown of Haverhill.

Mr Thompson is supporting the charity for his friend and Blues Legend Kevin Beattie, whose wife Maggie has MS.

He is getting sponsored for the run and is hoping to raise £5,000.

The CD will be available at www.itisc.org.uk next month.

Mr Thompson said: “A heartfelt thank you to all the people who put their time, talent, money and, above all, their unquestioning trust in this CD project.

“I would like to appeal to all Town fans to please buy this CD and to make someone's life a little more comfortable.

“Kevin Beattie gave us many years of enjoyment while wearing the blue shirt of Ipswich and this is a great way for the fans to say pay him back for those years and say thank you.”

Me name is Edward Ebeneezer Jerimiah Brown,

I'm a football supporter of Ipswich Town,

Wherever they play you'll find me,

I haven't missed a game since I was three,

With me scarf and me rattle and me big rosette,

Singing where was the goalie when the ball was in the net,

Follow the Town up or down,

My name is Edward Ebeneezer,

Jerimiah Brown,

But everybody calls me Ted

2-4-6-8 who do I appreciate,

It isn't hard to tell,

Just you take a closer look at me,

And you'll know damn well

Who?

Ipswich, Ipswich, Come on the Town
