The footballing legend was admitted to hospital on Saturday after falling ill at Ipswich Town's match against Crystal Palace.
It is believed he suffered a minor stroke and he was kept in hospital while a series of tests were carried out.
Jan Rowsell, hospital spokeswoman, said: “He was kept in for two nights for observation but he was much better this morning and was allowed home at around 10am.”
