Lord Blakenham took to the stand as the first witness called by the SnOasis Community Alliance which wants the government to block plans for the giant winter sport complex at Great Blakenham.

In an appeal to protect vulnerable species which live on the land at the former Mason's quarry, he said: “Far from sustaining and enhancing biological diversity, the development would have a major impact on a large number of protected species.”
